Baby Massage

Baby massage is designed to give parents, guardians, and carers the skills to massage their babies themselves. It provides a long list of benefits to baby whilst also being beneficial to parents in creating intimate bonding moments and increasing your confidence.

Sonya trained with the world renowned Peter Walker who has developed these techniques over 40 years, working with thousands of families.

Sonya is also a qualified Physiotherapist & Medical Herbalist, and therefore she is able to provide massage on your baby in the first session for nervous parents and guidance on healthy development as your child grows.

Emotional intelligence & loving touch

From birth to 8 weeks old, this programme is designed to help with

  • bonding and attachment
  • attunement to babies communication cues
  • introduce gentle touch techniques to relieve trauma associated with birth and gestational trauma
  • introduce easy, progressive steps towards tummy time
  • demonstrate gentle holding positions, stroking and stretching techniques to optimise babies posture and abilities
  • reduce digestive doscomfort such as colic
  • improve sleep
  • can also be taught pre-nataly

Developmental baby massage

From 8 weeks to standing, this programme is designed to introduce massage techniques that build on the above, whilst also helping

  • develop circulatory and breathing rythms
  • introduce and progress tummy time
  • develop joint flexibility and muscle strength

Sonya and Karen also teach 4 Week Baby Massage Courses at Leyton Yoga. The next course starts on Thursday 23 August, 11.15am to 12.15pm.

Sonya Elnaschie

Sonya Elnaschie is a Medical Herbalist. Combining her experiences of working within mainstream and complementary health care ensures the provision of a high standard of care. Sonya firmly believes in providing not just the physical support herbal medicine offers but giving her clients the tools to create and maintain positive changes in their lives.

Karen Kelly

Karen Kelly qualified with a first-class honours degree in Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture from the university of Westminster. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and a licensed massage therapist.
