Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a traditional remedy used in China often for injury or tightness of neck, back and shoulder. Gua literally means ‘scraping’ and involves the use of a smooth tool which is gently rubbed over the skin, stimulating blood flow and regenerating cell renewal, in a similar way to Fire Cupping. Sha means the "rash" or red marking which is commonly left after a treatment and indicated where the pain or stagnation is.
This therapy is especially recommended for muscle tightness and stimulating the immune system. It can also be done gently to treat insomnia or even more gently on the face to stimulate blood flow and boost collagen.
Often used in conjunction with acupuncture, massage or cupping or all three!
